Using Challenges As A Stepping Stone.

Stepping up

When I first realized that challenges are not specifically reserved for some set of people (poor or unsuccessful people etc), that gave me a kind of relive.

But recently, the same issue has prompt me to think deeply.

Why will two person face similarly challenges, one comes out stronger the other comes out (if only he/she comes out) weaker.

Attitude, I have observed that attitude makes the difference.

The story of “the donkey and the farmer” will give you more understanding on what I mean by the clause “attitude makes the difference”.

Hear the story,
One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and begin to shovel dirt into the well.

At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.

Then, to everyone’s amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw.

With every shovel of dirt that fell on his back, the donkey was doing some thing amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer’s neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.

Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and zoomed off!”

End of the story.

In the story, the donkey used what is intended to kill him to gain his freedom, every shovel of dirty (challenges) thrown at him was a stepping stone to his freedom. First he cried, but he stopped and thought of how he can make positive use of the circumstances.

That is how we should act upon unfriendly issues of life.

Everybody will once in a while have his or her own taste of challenges, that is life.

No body has it all figured out, we will keep facing challenges but our attitude towards then will always determine how we will come out either stronger or weaker.

When we began to look for, in challenges lessons, reasons and ideas rather than thinking they are imposed on us unjustly, then shall we discover the gem in every unfriendly circumstances we face.
